Session 23? Talking to a Ghost

The party talks to Jack a bit more and decides to see if there is any whiskey in the basement (planning to create a trap for whatever hobgoblins Jack thinks will likely show up soon). Gloriana, Dex, and Osrik end up in the basement where Jack becomes agitated when they find a walled off section. Jack admits to having seen a "flickery blue light" in this area, but insists it contains nothing important.

Osrik and Dex break into the walled off basement which is filled with benches, barrels, and racks of other stuff. Osrik finds a barrel of whiskey, but declares it to be low quality (by his standards). A lot of the stuff appears to be glassware used in alchemy or potion brewing.

As Alecsa searches around the basement a ghostly figure appears and flows into her body. She becomes possessed by what turns out to be the ghost of Jack's Mother. She explains that she was trapped in the basement by hobgoblins and killed and asks after her husband Thondar and son (Jack). Her name was Helen and she was attempting to get her notebooks when she was killed. These notebooks contained potion formulae. After being reassured that Jack is safe and will be taken care of the ghost fades away.

The search of the basement revealed overall some glassware, a ritual book and 2 barrels of not so good by dwarven standards whiskey. Chaedi says there is a brew potion ritual and some formulae for a couple of potions. Healing mainly. Chaedi can make a potion of damage resistance.

The party checks out the upstairs. They find a chest containing some books collected and written by Thondar Handalf. in a locked chest. A ruby scabbard is also in the chest, which Alecsa takes after experimenting to find out what it does. The books apparently contain a lot of info about Civari and various aspects of local history and information dug up by adventurers in this area in the past.
