August 30, 2008.
A day or so later, the party finally set out for Vim. It took nearly the whole day for Silthond and his crew to get the wagons, oxen, horses, and people all across the river on the ferry. We briefly met Sir Dannic, who is in charge of the expedition to resettle Vim. He seems like an ass. Cinoi and Alecsa briefly considered helping his wagon have an accident while getting off the ferry, but wiser heads prevailed. [What wiser heads? They just decided it'd be a lot of trouble.] Travel was very slow. By midmorning the next day, we were barely to the first village (name?). [I don't recall a name.] Farmers there complained to Silthond and the sergeant of a goblin raid on a nearby farmhouse.
Osrik convinced the others that "honor and valor" required assisting these poor farmfolk, so we set off for the farmhouse, after being told there were at least 30 goblins! [Cinoi and Alecsa are of a consensus that they have no idea how they got caught up in this fight.] We figure 5 or 10 at most... The farmhouse is a short distance away, not far from the edge of the woods. There's a barn behind it. Alecsa scouts around and finds there are goblins in the main house, but not apparently in the barn. There's a wagon out front, with beer barrels on it. The goblins are drinking heavily. The plan is to wait until we think they're pretty drunk and then attack.
