Back in last battle's room, the party heads east, down the hallway, where they quickly encounter a room with some nasty things in it, i.e., 3 rotters, 2 bandits, 2 gravehounds, and a mage. Noah and his ark. [Imagine it, Sam, a ship of undead!]

Since these guys don't look all that friendly, Chaedi greets them with a blast of Freezing Cloud, hitting the mage, a rotter, a gravehound. And possibly a bandit. [I was never clear on where that one came from.] That is one rotter that is dead. Again. For good this time! Gloriana walks right up to gravehound1 and casts Lir's Radiance, stunning both unholy creatures. The bad mage casts Dancing Light and hits Gloriana and Osrik, but missing the freakishly lucky Cinoi. Osrik swing his new, shiny magical axe, cleaving into the first bandit, who is standing in the room behind the wall near the door. Cinoi warlock curses the gravehound and casts Eldritch rain at the gravehound and mage, which misses both. He then moves for concealment. Alecsa moves into the room to stand beside Gloriana and hits the gravehound with a topple over exploit that knocks it prone! [I think this is the last point in which we thought this fight was looking up and going to be quick.] Now, it's prone and stunned! Dex then moves to the doorway, to attack the bandit just inside, actually hitting it! A rotter slams Osrik for practically no damage. The bandit tries to hit Osrik and misses badly, then shifts back and performs a healing surge. A pathetic rotter also misses Osrik with its attack. And the second bandit also misses Osrik.

Chaedi casts Icy Rays at a bandit and the mage, hitting the bandit most likely. [This damage was most missed in the confusion of the initiative window issue on the DM side.] Gloriana and Alecsa are both bitten by gravehounds, knocked down, and have some necrotic crap eating at them.

[This totally screwed up. Chaedi begins the rounds, and we just had one round where only Chaedi and two gravehounds went! The rest of us should get restitution!!!]

CHAEDI casts Icy Rays on a bandit and the mage, hitting the bandit. But, the bandit, both rotters, a bandit, the gravehounds, and the mage also got a little frost nip for still standing in an icy cloud, the rotters going to that rotten heaven in the sky ... or the trash dump. Gloriana fights off the necrotic gunk while standing, which is probably what throws off the Turn Undead prayer, hitting only one of the gravehounds. The evil mage fires of a Thunderwave spell, missing Alecsa, Cinoi, and Chaedi,, but hitting Gloriana and Osrik, leaving them dazed. Osrik steps forward to send a cleaving swipe at the bandits but missing. Cinoi curses the bandit hiding behind the wall and the then hits it with Eldritch Blast. Then, Cinoi hides again. Alecsa stands up, shakes off the necrotic ooze, and hits the gravehound with a torturous strike. A bandit misses Osrik with a mace. The other bandit also misses Osrik.

Chaedi misses a bandit with cloud of daggers. Gloriana, still dazed, stays put and performs a healing surge. She is also able to shake of the daze. The mage misses Osrik with his Magic Missiles spell. This time, Osrik actually hits a bandit with his cleave attack. The band inside the doorway along the wall dies, and Osrik marks the remaining bandit. And heals. Cinoi hits the mage with Dreadful Word, killing him. Alecsa hits the gravehound with a riposte strike and kills it. Dex hits the bandit with his longsword. Then, the bandit hits Osrik, barely nicking him. The remaining grave hound tries to bite Osrik but misses.

Chaedi uses Cloud of Daggers on the remaining bandit, missing him. Gloriana hits the bandit with Blazing Beacon. Osrik cleaves into the hound, killing it and also hitting the bandit. Cinoi curses the bandit just because he can and kills off the last nuisance with an Eldritch Blast.

The party rests for a few minutes, healing up and searching the area. Cinoi kicks around in a pile of junk on the floor, then goes to kick the mage's corpse. Alecsa searches the mage's body and finds some food and other personal sundries in the backpack. She also finds his spellbook, which only contains a zombie raising ritual. The pouch yields 150 gold pieces and a Rod of Dark Reward. Searching through the junk on the floor and the bandit bodies yields 500 gold pieces. Cinoi "takes charge" of the wand.

Alecsa moves to the door behind the mage, with Osrik breathing down her nec-uh, watching her back. Determining that the door has no traps and isn't locked, she backs away so Osrik and Dex can open it and march on through.

The door opens onto a set of stairs leading down. At the bottom of the stairs, there is yet another door, this one trapped. Alecsa, with input from other party members, is able to hammer a couple of pitons in place to prevent the thing from crashing a portcullis down on them. Osrik continues to lead and then comes to a long hallway that leads beyond the party on either side for some distance, and a shorter hallway across from them. They hear some faint moaning, but don't see anything. Osrik cautiously moves across the hallway, eventually followed by Dex, Alecsa, Chaedi, and Cinoi when things appear safe. However, before Gloriana can cross and spectre suddenly appears beside Cinoi. Yep, just what they wanted to see again!

The spectre gets in a cheap shot from shocking the living hell out of everyone with its sudden appearance, knocking down Osrik and Alecsa with a Spectral Barrage. Dex hits the spectre with his longsword. The spectre hits Chaedi. Gloriana's attempt with Lir's Radiance fails. Alecsa hits it hard with a torturous strike, but only does partial damage, since she doesn't have a magical weapon like some dwarf, who shall remain nameless but is generally called Osrik. Chaedi's Cloud of Daggers miss the spectre, as well. Osrik stands, steps to the spectre, and hits it with a brute strike attack, killing it. Two more spectres suddenly appear, one next to Dex and one next to Gloriana, who are standing on either side of the intersection. Spectre #2 misses the party but hits Osrik and Gloriana, knocking them prone. Specter #1 - not to be confused with the already defeated spectre - hits Dex. Cinoi curses #1 and then hits it with Dreadful Word.

Dex hits #1. Gloriana is able to Turn Undead, pushing the spectre #2 down the hall, away from the party, and immobilizing it. Cinoi gives Gloriana a lovely smile, but she keeping an eye on the spectre. Alecsa moves down the hall to attack #2, barely missing with her shuriken. Chaedi teleports to stand at the foot of the stairway and uses Icy Rays on the spectre, killing #2. Osrik manages to stand up. #1 swings at Dex, misses, and fades from view. Not able to see the Spectre, Cinoi crosses the hall to gain concealment on the bottom step.

Dex seems to see the spectre, maybe, and advances toward it waving his longsword. Gloriana catches a glimpse of the creature in an area in front of Dex, advances on it, but her Blazing Beacon fails to hit it. Alecsa sees the spectre and tells the party exactly where it is but misses with her shuriken. Chaedi's Cloud of Daggers also misses it. Osrik walks past everyone to get at the spectre, which has reapeared, boxing it in. As he passes, the spectre hits him, and he fails to hit it in return. It uses Spectral Barrage on the party, hitting Dex and Alecsa. Then it fades from view. Unable to see it, Cinoi stays concealed.

Dex is able to hit the spectre, and Gloriana's Priest's Shield fails to hit. Alecsa is able to hit it with a shuriken. Chaedi misses with her Cloud of Daggers. Osrik hits the spectre with a cleave hit. The spectre hits Gloriana. Still unable to spot the spectre, Cinoi remains in hiding.

Dex hits the spectre. Gloriana is able to hit the spectre with Righteous Brand, killing the blasted thing!
